Hello all,

I am a teacher taking a group of approximately 60 teenagers on a class trip to Chicago next year in June. I am looking for recommendations for hotels and must see/do events!

Thank you in advance!

Teacher in Western NY

You are one brave soul!

Hilton Towers, Palmer House Hilton, Sheraton, Hyatt on Wacker, Omni, Stouffers Rennaissance on Wacker, or House of Blues(if you want the kids to think you are cool) There a couple of moderate hotels near Ohio St., (Hampton Inn, Courtyard Marriott) Transportation will be key with that size group-- most of the sites are Lakefront and require very long walks --Navy Pier to Shedd Aquarium to Natural History etc. It's a beautiful walk but you mith want a tour bus rental while your here.

Windy City John - thanks for the information. I was looking for that info that only those that live there could offer!

There is a Hard Rock Hotel on Michigan Ave. between Lake and Wacker. They will think you are really cool if you take them there.

Do you have any budget? That will determine where you can take them. A bus load of teens at a 5 star hotel in the Loop is not going to be cheap.

Yes, this will not be cheap - as traveling nowadays seldom is. For the 3 nights, we are looking at approximately $500/per student/quad occupancy.

I am getting "package" quotes from travel agencies. I just want to make sure I know what I am looking at. They could very well list a hotel and I could get myself and several teens into an area I am not so happy with. Knowing that this forum is a great resource, I put my questions out there. I also am working with a local agency, so if I tell them something SPECIFIC - they will look into it.

I appreciate all the help!

Safety won't be much of a concern, outside of the fact that you are still in a major city, anywhere around the loop/mag mile area. This isn't San Francisco, where major hotels are found right near the heart of skid row.

Oooh, forgot about the Pen. Awesome place. Same goes for the Palmer House, one of the most beautiful lobbies on earth. I could eat up that lobby for hours and still see new details.
