Be it apps, videos, anything. I just want to learn how it works in detail, what would you recommend?

You can use Google maps. It will tell you how to easiest go from point a to b to c without a car. I still use it going to work. Sometimes it recommends mer taking Metra-CTA and walk. Sometimes just CTA. Sometimes CTA and buss.
Is that what you talking about. Other than that it's just experience doing it every day.

Yep, this. Just set it to the icon that looks like a train to get the preferred public transit option.

I like the transit app best personally as it tells the locations of the buses and trains on the maps while ur waiting in real time.

I've been here almost my entire life, and I have NO IDEA how to use the metra though. I think I might have ridden it once ever.

What do you mean by "in detail"? If you just mean how to ride and where things go, the CTA website and/or Google Maps are all anyone really needs to see the system. I know a lot about the CTA system, and nearly everything I know about it comes from either just getting out there and using it, or reading the official maps. Don't people know how to use maps anymore?
