I wrote a long post about my issues but my computer erased it all.

So I am asking has anyone on this forum had to fight with Streets and Sands about cutting grass and putting up a fence even though you did not own the property?

My ex-husband who I divorced in 1996 owns this property. The house burned down and he owed the city a ton of money. I was unaware of the house burning down etc.

Fast forward to 2018 he died leaving no will etc.

Streets and Sands came after me and his son.
It's been almost 3 years since we are fighting them. At least 15 times in hearings and I sued the City once.
They dismissed the docket from 2019 because we filed a default against said property. The judge told us to sell the property that we do not own.
COVID-19 hit and such a back up in cases and going to court. They dismissed the 2018 docket. Now they open up a new file on us and we are set for yet another continuance.
I do not understand how they can dismiss the case for the 2018 and 2019 docket but want to continue on a 2020 docket?
My name nor my son names in on this property. I am hoping we do not need to pay more money and filed another default.

I'd contact a RE lawyer, instead of posting on a random internet board..

Who are "Streets and Sands"? Do they control the roads and the beaches?

If you were divorced in 1996, the divorce decree should say who owned the property after the divorce. If it was your husband, he cannot "will" property to your son and you without your permission (deeding you property that you do not want). If you took possession of it after his death, costs associated with it are likely yours as well. First, I'd say that ownership of the property must be established before the city can come after you as the new owner - what was the result of the Probate case that settled your ex-husband's estate? Lots of missing details here, and yes, you probably need a lawyer.

I'm guessing you knew this, but I think the OP means Streets and San(itation).

A local who would not know this as I surely even did.... is like too much a surprise to me. Beaches indeed. Maybe a just San would have been easier for some, of course I look up stats and services of a city a lot also and do not rely on political sources for theories. Also had a uncle long ago who worked as a garbage pick-up part of that city Dept. Maybe it is just being a suburbanite? Someone might not have gotten it?

Yeah, I figured it was easier to rib the OP vs. calling out the grammar or spelling police. Doubt we will see her again anyway, the site seems to be full of one-post-wonders who ask detailed questions, oftentimes on unlikely scenarios, and then disappear. Traffic generators? Hope Pittsburg's winter is really over, the "PA snow shoveling shootout" thread went on for weeks.
