I know i know you will say this is like all the other posts...

but actually its a little different. My husband and I were planning on living in Bosnia (Im american and he is Bosnian) however i cant seem to find any nice jobs that I can do there so he suggested we move to the states... I dont really want to leave bosnia i love it there but you got to do what you got to do...

So i have been doing research on areas in the US that are close to home for us (in atomosphere) and came accross chicago...

so now my question is...
  1. where are the areas that are worth looking into?
  2. How are real estate prices in those areas?
  3. How is the job market right now? (all i can find is old info)
  4. what is the unemployement rate right now?
  5. What is this i read about in the chicago tribune about taxes increasing 50%? is that really happening?
  6. Are house taxes high in the balkan areas of Chicago? (thats the north side right?)
  7. Are there are lot of forclosures in the balkan areas of chicago? or does anyone know a good real estate agent?
  8. If anyone lives in that area is it a safe area to have children? we would like to start a family soon.
  9. what is the crime like in that area?
  10. What areas are bad to live in?
  11. What is the cost of living like?
  12. is there any advice you can give me?
  13. anything i forgot to ask?

Thank you for your time.

What is average for that area of chicago? 2,000-3000 per year? (obviously depending on your house but average)

Why is renting better then owning your own home and not throwing your money in the toilet?

what is average... i grew up in the northwest average for us is completely different then Chicago... average is not an answer? average to the moon or average to detroit... whats average...

Damn your a rude person.

Not at all Carantini

Actually most people consider me quite sweet.... level-headed, goal minded and perhaps ambitious but not rude...

Average is defined as "a Usual or ordinary amount, level or rate" (as per oxford)

However each area even within the US has its own average rate. (i.e. the average rate of an apartment in New York is a drastic difference from that of the average rental rate of say "the middle of nowhere" Montana...

An answer such as average tells someone an absolutely and definitive quantity of nothing.

I was not trying to be rude I am just an average gal who just pointed out the obvious.

I just wanted to find out a quantitative number from someone who was truly living there instead of the reports that are posted... lets face it, media is never very good at percentages...

depends on location, you can get a 2 bedroom for around 750 to 800 a month. And then things add if you are financing a car or something.
