I can't even begin to describe how much of a relief it was when I found out my rent was only going up by $5. I have considered us lucky with how much bang for our buck we get with our apartment (nothing fancy, but big, great location, some utilities and dog friendly) and I was really worrying that we'd be forced to leave when it came time to renew. For some reason I was expecting quite a big raise.

I'm glad, too, because moving into the top unit of a 3 story walkup was what I imagine Hell to be like, and I've vowed to not move again until we buy a place. That was a nightmare.
