NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Comments made by a South Nashville priest have started a nationwide controversy. In a video, Reverend Joseph Breen criticized the Roman Catholic Church for its teachings on celibacy, birth control and papal authority.
Reverend Joseph needs to take the full plunge by disassociating himself from the RCC (IMO). I mean how can you reach out to Catholics who have left the church on those grounds and remain a member yourself? I also suggest he drop the Reverend title which is vain glorious. I find all the trappings of the RCC very, very creepy and have known plenty of people who left the organization because of its bizarre teachings and desire to sit in the seat of Christ in their lives. It (the RCC) is just one of many segments of Babylon... a rather big segment, though.
Another good Catholic authoritarian in support of free speech. Clearly even the Catholic God is impotent and must rely on men to chastise His children or force them to conform to whatever the men in positions of power say. Thank God my God is not so IMPOTENT.

The man has the freedom to say whatever he wants, but this doesn't mean any organization is required to support or publish what he says. If a member of Planned Parenthood said they like the birth control stuff okay, but that they felt all abortion should be illegal do you really think there would be no repercussions? Or to go back to religion if a Quaker said fighting in war is okay if "it's a situation like WWII" do you think talk of disfellowship or chastisement would never arise at her meeting house?

I think God is aware that organizations need actual rules and the ability to carry them out. You think God has to directly intervene in every scandalous or tactless moment? Human society has to chastise or even punish people at times.

I respect you too much to do anymore than to say Jesus forbade hierarchy and elevation of one human over another IN MATTERS OF GOD ("Those who would be first . . ."). As long as the issues are secular and of secular matters . . . what you say is appropriate. But in matters of God we are all EQUAL in authority and we ALL have the same God within to guide us. We each have the same authoritativeness to speak of what we believe God is telling us. (Of course, we are each free to be absolutely wrong . . . but that is the point) . . . ONLY God can determine that . . . and ONLY God will deal with us as regards it . . . not fallible humans. Acting for God is presumptuous and evil and reveals an underlying lack of belief in God. It makes God IMPOTENT.
