The reason I didn't was because we were talking about children and God, not husbands and children. I didn't want to start another debate. Anyway, we are in agreement

I hope you didn't bet too much .

The definition means "to determine" The text of the definition also clarifies the common mistake due to the english language having different implications for words that are spelled the same.

The determination of Gods will is indeed a desire, however the word carries the weight of an active option which means it is something he intends to do.

Thelo when applied to Gods will is a declaration of intent to the degree that Gods will can produce. When thelo applied to mans will it also carries the amount of weight that mans will can produce.

The issue concerning context is if Gods will carries more of an absolute possibility than does mans will when it is Gods responsibility to carry out something.

Since salvation is not of us, then it must be of God. So the determination of God to do something he is responsible for is an absolute fact that it will get done.

I'll stick with God being stronger than man since scripture declares that to be so.

You are way off...The fact is that the Hebrews did not hold to the concept of an afterlife...This is why the exortation to follow in the ways of the Lord if you wanted a long life....

Lol. I doubt it, but if you do, you need to work on your English. Comprehension and writing. Just trying to help.

You must have lost a bundle on that bet.

Speaking ancient greek has nothing to do with understanding context and usage of a word in that language. That is a false appeal to authority, of which you do not have in the first place.
