The bishop that is making this claim is a neocon bishop with an agenda

Bishop David Ricken publicly condemned Obama's selection as speaker and honorary degree recipient at Notre Dame, he is a stooge of the Republican party.

Good for Bishop Ricken, Obama and his views on killing innocent babies don't deserve to near Notre Dame, let alone speak there.

Ok DNick why don't you tell us exactly what Obama's view is on killing innocent babies.

The agenda
1) trying to stop the flow of Catholics leaving while trying to recruit new members/money

2) trying to deflect all the negative news that is hitting the Church, I wouldn't be surprised if we hear of more apparitions.

Last but the most important reason I see it as a part of the march backwards in time to a more pre Vatican II Church, the hierarchy wants to bring the Church back to a Medievil time period.

Do you know I got the strangest thing in my mail yesterday. The Catholic News (a newspaper for Catholics). We have never been to a Catholic church (except as tourists in Europe) and I once went to a Catholic funeral when I was a teen. Anyway, I just thought it was odd to get this thing delivered in our mail and it had my husband's name right on there (or current resident). It was fascinating to look through. I do find it odd that there have never been any church approved miracles places in America until now. Not that I believe in that sort of thing - but America is a big place and we are just now getting our first miraculous Catholic place in all this land?

That last reason sounds downright frightening. I can see how no.1 and no.2 make sense with all those skeletons having fallen out of the closet. You want to see some screaming happening, wait until Uncle Sam decides it is necessary to make the churches pay their fair share of taxes, which, incidentally, I'm in favor of.
