From the blog Canterbury Tales:

1. Contraception is contrary to natural law. The male and female procreative organs naturally come together to procreate a child. The word procreate includes the term "create" since a new life is made. In the case of humans, a new immortal soul is created by God when the father and mother come together and conceive a new person.

Women are not brood mares.

Is it fair to the children when a family has so many that they cannot adequately provide for them?

Does religion help ease the pain of hunger or keep you warm when your parents can't afford to put enough food on the table or buy warm clothing?

No, it does not!

Your biblical passages were written a very long time ago and have little or nothing to do with today's reality.

Well, we all have to do what we have to do.
Tell you what, I won't tell you what to do with your eggs and you best not tell me what to with mine!

HOW MANY EGGS DOES A WOMAN ACTUALLY HAVE? A human female typically has about 400,000 follicles/potential eggs, all formed before birth. Only several hundred (about 480) of these “eggs” will actually ever be released during her reproductive years. Normally, in humans, after the onset of puberty, due to the stimulation of follicular-stimulating-hormone (FSH) one “egg” per cycle matures and is released from its ovary. One month the left ovary will release a potential egg and the next month the right ovary will release a potential egg.
Female Reproductive System, # of eggs in the female body, female genitalia . . .

To the OP. Sorry, but Biblically, you haven't got a leg to stand on. pharmakeia. The Catholic dictionary is hardly an unbiased source on a definition for this word, so I checked my standard, Brown Driver Briggs Lexicon. This words standard definition is "mixing potions, practicing magic" , and why this word is commonly translated "sorcery".

The Genesis 38 text is a sin, not because of what he did, that which is never condemned in the Bible in any other place, but his sinful rebellion against God's laws. HIs responsibility to his dead brother was to sleep with his widow and aid her by producing offspring for her.

The church fathers said many things, some which were good, and some which were wrong. So, you haven't got any new Testament prohibition, and therefore, you have nothing to insist that this is against God's will. For you to do this is infact to burden consciences with man made laws, which is a sin.

We live in a society where sex is like having lunch..and that the basic purpose of sex is pleasure..and never anything more. Sex is the ultmate bond - it is for all intent and purpose marriage - It is NOT a disposable commodity - Not wanting to sound like a prude - but if I could go back in time - I would not have done what I did...now getting down the the real and natural reason for sex....The reason that it feels so good is that it is a god like privledge- the most powerful thing you can do - is assist in the creation of another human being.

As a male - and as a young male - I was always prepared for fatherhood...to me it would be a blessing and it is...at one time I dated this fine young woman - Her parents went away for the weekend - so we had the condo to ourselves - she stocked up on all sorts of birth control devices and methods...I got turned off by that - that all I was to her was a pleasure toy - You might think that is odd - But I had enough of the modernity - as a musican I slept with countless woman - and I simply had enough of wasted sex..sex with no future....If you do not want to have a baby - refrain from sex...and if a child does come along - don't listen to those that will tell you that it is a detriment.

Those that I know - who avoided having childern - are old miserable and alone - they may have money - but in the end I have the wealth...all of my children are a blessing...I thank the woman who bore them - and God for sending the partner...When the first child was on it's way - even my own mother insisted that the child be aborted - I defied...social protocol - and did what was right...Had I listened to those that thought the child would be a curse - I would be a sad old lonely man - a loser!

This is why the ignorance of religion is the greatest threat to mankind's future that exists.

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” - Martin Luther King
