Worship goes beyond songs, words, notes, chords and instruments. Worship means to pay homage, falling before someone feet, glorifying a deity, honor paid to dignity, kind of reverence ascribing worth. Genesis 22:5 that was the first mention of the word Worship in the Bible, it denoted sacrifice and obedience.
Worship in today’s ages and to some people means songs and music, that is 3 praise song and 3 worship songs if there are more than 6 songs at your church on Sunday then you are privileged. Some believe doing a bible study and fellowship for them that is the understanding that they have of worship.
Worship is a lifestyle and way of life and today I am talking about worship with our works and we look at what the words says about,
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”, Matthew 5:16
“But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men” Matthew 9:8
“And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified”, Acts 19:17
“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name”, Hebrews 13:15
What God is looking is for our lives is not just our hands, mouths and bodies worshipping Him, bowing down or crying before Him.
He is looking for our works outside the Church, can our works bring glory to God. You can lift up the name of God by allowing your works to minister to the nations. Psalms 51 says that God is more pleased by works of righteousness more than a sacrifices of bulls and goats….
These scriptures talk about fruit of our lips, the fruit shall stand on its own and lift up God above all things, your works shall be seen by all men and that will cause them to worship God, they glorified God because they saw the power that was issued from God into these men and the people were drawn to the early Christian because they saw the works they did.
As a worship leader, singer, drummer or just the cables guy can your works outside the church or the worship service, can your works outside your angelic voice bring Glory to God or can it cause man to stand to bless God and declare that He is good when they look at you and see the fruit of your lips.
Your works, worship the Lord, they sound as louder worship in the ears of the world and even in God’s ears. Worship is beyond words, songs, pitches and music it goes into your works, attitude and lifestyle. Also the fruits of your lips and life all will and can declare worship to God.
Very good post. I always wonder why people like certain churches just becasue of the style and quality of "worship" music. It is hard for a person who is so use to having worship music lead them to worship without music.
We are the temple and we worship in our hearts, we no longer need an instrument. If you have it that is good, but if you need it, then you are in bondage. If you can worship outside the institutional walls, without a band leading your worship you are doing very good.
No, i am not saying having instruments are bad, it is the needing them that is bad. It is no different from those who want to go to church, and those who need to go. if you need to go, then you are in bondage.
As we have heard in the past, many people will see Christ in us and that is the most of Jesus they will ever see. Remember, if you are a follower of Christ, you are always being watched.
So worship God by your behavior that he may be magnified by others.
Ephesians 5:18-20
Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.
Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians 3:16
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all
wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your
hearts.
Psalm 30:4
Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; praise his holy name.
Psalm 32:11 Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!
Psalm 33:1
Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Psalm 66:4 All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing the praises of your name
and with what did they sing with:
2 Samuel 6:5
David and all Israel were celebrating with all their might before the Lord, with castanets, harps, lyres, timbrels, sistrums and cymbals.
1 Chronicles 13:8
David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and withharps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.
1 Chronicles 25:6
All these men were under the supervision of their father for the music of the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God
my inquiry was not as to the reason, of course people do it because of the Joy God gives. My inquiry was regarding the folks who choose a church becasue of the music, or those who only wait until Sunday to sing a song. Songs from our hearts must flow all the time.
What happens if all instruments suddenly dissapear? will people not worship? well, those who say they need to do it only on sunday mornings will not worship. why? because they are dependent on a worhip leader (whatever that is) to play the instrument.
Once again i say, i dont see nothing wrong with instruments, it is the needing to have them in order to worship that is wrong.
Worshiping the Lord without Words especially with out Gods Words can be demeaning , as God prefers His Children use His Words for faith and interaction ......Still there are the Worship of the Lord by using the fruits of the Spirit and developing them for Eternal life , and then there are The Ten Commandments , along with the Two Commandment which Jesus gave which when people obey them to Jesus , is a worship to the Lord ,..Then there are the True Virtues of the spirit which are , Faith, Hope, charity, prudence in the spirit, fortitude, justice, and then Temperance, are all Worship to the Lord in Spirit and in truth ......
Worship With or without Music is a huge debate... what important for me is that the Church (the bride) will learn and know what the word of God says about the music, dance, dancing and living a lifestyle of Worship....
