(1) Cases in point were the bombing of North Viet Nam based on nebulous reports, later proved false, that the US Navy was attacked on the high seas by elements of North Viet Namese military. The invasion of Iraq was supposedly based on the development of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, which were never found and ties to international terrorism which were never proven. The reports were tentatively accurate, but not true.
