Right cuz a survey from Okcupid, an online dating site is the most reliable source of data huh? You really have some big beef with this CARM guy yet you haven't provided a single credible bit of evidence as to why he is so false in his positions.
Is that where you're looking for dates, Jeff? Sounds sketchy.
Why would I have a beef with some guy in Idaho who gets everything wrong? I hope you're not sending him money Jeffy. You should be saving your money so you can afford a nice Christian Singles cruise to meet women (or men - your preference) and see a bit of the world.
If homosexuality is such an important issue, why didn't Jesus ever address it? Some conservatives will say he actually did when he said "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female?" but beyond that passive reference to marriage as between a man and a woman, he never mentioned homosexuality. If it really is a nation-destroying sin on the level that most evangelicals today believe it to be, why didn't Jesus give in more attention? You would think something this big, something so evil that God will completely wipe away an entire society for simply tolerating would at least have been mentioned. Something that significant wouldn't be simply implied, it would be clarified. It isn't like homosexuality wasn't practiced in the Roman world. It was. It was probably more widespread during that era than it has been any time since until the current era.
Paul addressed it in the letter to the Romans, but outside of that one mention, there isn't an explicit mention of homosexuality in the entire New Testament. Being that this seems to be one of the central issues of fundamentalist Christianity in 2015, you would think it would be one of the central issues of the New Testament yet I don't see it.
Thoughts?
Jesus addressed what was problematic with the Jews, and this wasn't one of the problems. They had centuries of Mosaic Law that clearly taught against it. Paul dealt with it once in Romans 1 and once in 1 Timothy 1, and it was directed at Gentile believers, where it was a tad more problematic, but not something that needed to be harped on.
What many right wing Christians do, is ignore what Paul did teach in 1 Cor 5, where he summarizes God's will in verses 12 & 13.

"Warning: Adult Themes Discussed The third speaker for the 2013 International Courage Conference in Mundelein, IL, is Fr. Emmerich Vogt, O.P. who gives a talk titled, "Living and Working the Steps with Scripture and the Saints" He is editor of The 12 Step Review and he shows how the steps are quite Catholic, can be followed along side the saints and the bible to find the peace of Christ despite all our weaknesses."
Science says you're born that way. As to your quote, might want to read the first part of Matthew 19. What do you think Jesus was referring to when he said Eunuchs who are born that way?
There is no proof that gays were born that way or there is a gay gene. This is the latest article regarding research of the gay gene:
Despite what you may have read, there’s no ‘gay gene’ The real focus of the study was epigenetics, a field of biology dealing with the ways different genes are turned on and off. What’s really important to bear in mind is that the evidence doesn’t point to a cause-effect relationship. Just because one individual might have the epigenetic pattern associated with homosexual individuals doesn’t mean he is, necessarily, a homosexual. Ditto for heterosexual patterns.Despite what you may have read, there's no 'gay gene' | Genetic Literacy Project
The bible never uses eunuch and gay people interchangeably. Being and even born as a eunuch is not a sin but homosexual acts are sinful.
That would indeed be a good start.
Matt "The Oil" Slick, jeffy's and Vizio's go-to-god-guru-internet-guy, has a daughter who embraced atheism as soon as she came of age.
Daddy couldn't even convince his daughter his brand of Christianity was right.
He only convinces people like jeffbase and Vizio....
What you seem to not be aware of is that God draws us ALL to Jesus and we respond of our own free will. If Rachel decided to reject the reality of Jesus, that was her choice based on her own understand, however adversely affected by her upbringing.
You may not remember this, depending on your age, but the infamous American atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair's son, William Murray, became a Christian in 1980. In my experience this happens because the parents themselves don't live what they preach and those closest to them see it first and foremost.
Open mindedness usually results in people excepting God, not rejecting him. The second reason people reject God is because they are too full of themselves and their own brilliance, to consider any other thought.
