I had a discussion with some friends the other day about Tebow. Christians are torn whether it was his faith that made him an outcast in the NFL, or if it was just the fact that he was actually a bad player and was overhyped.

Some Christians say that Tebow was not respected because he was a Christian, and I actually resent that comment. Kurt Warner was a very respected athlete who is a devout Christian, as is Ray Lewis. They haven't been subject to the same scrutiny Tebow was. Are we to say the reason they weren't "persecuted" is because they aren't "true" Christians? If you believe this, what makes Tebow a true Christian?

I think sometimes Christians get really hyper-sensitive and actually become part of the politically correct movement where just like other "marginalized" groups, they claim to be always treated unjustly and always claim that their faith is the reason people criticize them, not realizing that they may be rubbing people the wrong way for different reasons. If some Christians believe that political correctness has gone too far, they shouldn't be a part of that movement by engaging in the same "woe is me" actions that just alienate people.

Kurt Warner: A devout Christian who came out of nowhere, wasn't flashy, and produced on the field.

Tim Tebow: A devout Christian who was hyped, drew attention to himself, and didn't produce on the field. If you've painted a target on yourself, which is what Tebow did when he Tebowed, people are going to look at you. Which means you better get the job done. He didn't.

I loved when Tebow was playing because he would be awful for three quarters, and then in the fourth quarter, God would make him competent enough to win games - and people were dumbfounded on how this was happening.

I still remember the Broncos/Bears game, where it just seemed like God made things happen where the won in overtime.

I believe if it didn't have the throngs of people clamoring for him, he probably would have gotten more of a look after Denver.

Currently he is doing ESPN college broadcasts in studio.

I wonder why God didn't make him competent in the first half?

I agree. same goes with the races. Tebow couldn't play at the nfl level as quarterback. that's it.

Good to see people didn't stick up for this over-hyped hack.

LOL whatever buddy
He won the Heisman and a national championship. He's considered one of the greatest college football players ever to step on the field.

His QB style just wasn't what works in the pros Had he not played QB, he could have played a long average career in the NFL as a FB or TE.

As it was for three years and leading a team to a playoff victory Tebow had a better than average professional athletic career certainly no worse than many Heisman Trophy winners. His outward displays of faith just rubbed many the wrong way.
