A. "You're rude."
B. "Your lawn looks really bad, needs fertilizer."
C. "That color looks really good on you." (or bad on you)
D. "You're such a loser."
E. "That book you wrote is not very good."
F. "What you said is just not true."
G. "You look really tired today."
Which are observations of 'what is'. (LOL, Not talking about whether they are
PC or
needed to be said or
opinions or
are true to only the speaker.. ha!)
But which is a judgment of another that was what Jesus meant?
Thanks
Number D is a major offense to God , as if breaks the commands of Jesus to love everyone ............ Jesus said from Matthew 7:1-6``Judge not that you be not judged , for with what judgment you judge you will be judged , and with the measure you use it will be measured back to you ........ And why do you look at the speck in your brothers eye , but do not consider the plank in your own eye ............................. many times when people judge others they could get a speck in their eye as demons will come and put a speck in their eye which could last a day or so ..... Where demons are sentencing people for judging others for Gods rules , were God does not tell demons to do anything

They are all judgments. Maybe some or all are true. Now do you want someone to tell you the truth, or do you want them to tell you that you look great, which would be a lie, if you look like a zombie 20 years in the grave? Give me a break, you want them to tell you a lie, and that you look great. Everything is a façade, rarely does one knows what a heavily maked up woman really looks like. They don't know what is actually flesh or plastic, flabby flesh, or simply sucked out fat. If you are a "loser", maybe it would be best if someone told you, so you could change your ways. If the teller is a loser in your mind, you could tell them or just infer your thoughts. But what if they are right, and you are wrong? If they are right, where is the foul? If you are wrong, what is the judgment?

Oh, good exercise! I don't know what Jesus meant, but in my opinion all of those are judgments.
Better, imho:
A. "I felt disrespected (demeaned, whatever) by what you said."
B. "It looks like it might benefit from fertilizer." (Only if asked for my opinion, and only if I know what I'm talking about.)
C. Unsolicited comments on anyone's appearance is treading on dangerous ground. But, "Oh, what a lovely color," is commenting on the color, not the person.
D.
E. Unless I'm the person's editor , or unless asked by the person for my honest opinion. Then take the time to ask them for their own opinion about what they wrote and work forward from there. Coaching, as opposed to critiquing, to the degree that that is what they want.
F. "What you said is incorrect." (Same thing, essentially, but using the phrase "just not true" could come across as implying the person is being purposely deceitful.)
Now, are we to be aware of the many ways someone could react? "You're lawn looks bad, you need fertilizer."
"You were rude to that guy..."
Those could be reasons for someone to commit suicide if they were unstable.
That's not our responsibility.
The ques is...what did Jesus mean by don't judge. Nothing about politeness, perception, or social inappropriateness....see?
Something to consider...the diff between observations and judging ...whether said or thought.
The difference between preferences and judging....whether said or thought.
Opinions...whether said or thought.
Discerning, assessing and the judgment Jesus meant not to do.
Maybe go with 'or thought'....not to muddle up this basic question.
Thank you all for participating.

Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
In order to judge rightly - you would have to know the heart of that person, even if that person were you.

As for actual judging, not participating in word games, one must not judge by what they hear or see, but with a righteous judgment. That might be a step to far for "many", who are without the "fear of the LORD" (Isaiah 11:3)
New American Standard Bible John 7:24
"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
Isaiah 11:3 And He will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what His eyes see, and He will not decide by what His ears hear,
