The Joy of the Lord is like sweetness of an innocent child ..... Another scripture is Nehemiah 8:10 says ``Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared, for this day is holy unto our Lord, neither be you sorry, for the Joy of the Lord is your strength. ``
“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is his joy.”
The prayer of the upright is God’s joy.
Are your prayers God’s joy?
I would certainly hope so, Free. Reminds me that we show our love of God by our obedience to Him. 1 Jn 5:3 No doubt doing Gods will would bring Him joy. There are 3 things we have to offer to God sir, our time, talent, and treasures, it gives us joy when we are able to give of ourselves to Him.

There is something hidden in that verse in the OP.
People think it says that the upright make God happy with their prayers but no that is not what it’s saying.
Remember; “The Lord God does nothing without revealing His secrets to His servants the prophets.”
So if one wants to know the hidden they need to serve the Lord and speak the truth.

Our love, mercy and compassion for others through that of forgiveness.
There is no love without forgiveness and no forgiveness without love.
For what power has love; but that of forgiveness.
"I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” -Jesus

Does this mean that there are righteous people who do not need to repent?

Maybe what it's saying is that those "righteous" people are actually people who have drifted away from God, and no longer feel a need for God's forgiveness. They think that God is "cool" with whatever state they are in.
