The Church got into a lot of trouble, so this rule came about to save the church from becomming a family owned business...as it had been in some parts of the world.
In our modern world you see this still going on in the non-catholic church.
a rich well known Church leader gets old, so he always passes the church leadership on to his son....
The position of church leader, or Pastor becomes something that the members of that church automatically believe should go to the son of the head Pastor...
Like Billy Graham gets old and so many of his freinds and followers start to ask the son to 'take over" for his dad.....
"Take over"...think about that for a while...We have in many ways turned the Christian Church over into a family owned business..
