Hi- We arrived in Mason yesterday. Lots to do to get settled including opening a bank account. Any suggestions? Looking for one with lots of locations, good hours, a great online banking web site, excellent service, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Fifth-Third is I believe the area's largest. In addition to the stand-alone banks, such as the one in downtown Mason at 225 West Main, they have satellite branches in most of the Kroger stores in the area with convenient hours. They also have complete online banking services.

In fact, after I finish this I will be going to do some banking at the Fifth-Third in my local Kroger store and then pick up some items we are out of. I consider this convenience.

fifth third, PNC, and US Bank are all ubiquitous with easy access to ATMs. Also, consider checking the credit unions in your area. Many allow a limited number (like 20/month) of no-fee transactions on any ATM. I have always found credit unions to have more competitive interest rates and also superior customer service and less "nickel-and-diming." Wright-Patt credit union is regionally big, and I imagine there are others in Mason. CINCO is around but I think only in the city.

I second Fifth Third for convenience. Just don't expect any "friendly banker" treatment if you make a mistake with your accounts. They will gouge you like its their only job.

I agree, look out for yourself. If you give them a reason they will ding you. We had one bank in the area, I believe People's Community out of Hamilton, which was running around buying out several small building & loans plus building new banks. Appeared they were growing in leaps and bounds. Suddenly, abruptly closed and announced would reopen under new ownership, I believe First Financial.

First Financial originated in Hamilton and they have branches all over. We have been banking with them for a while as they have an office near us here in NW Ohio, but also are convenient when we visit the kids in Hamilton. We have never had an issue with them, and our office here is wonderful. DS who works in Mason suggested checking out LCNB. They don't have as many locations, but will give you more of a homey feel. He said they seem to care about their customers more than the larger ones. He said he got a call from them due to new government regulations, asking if they wanted to opt out of their free overdraft protection or leave it as it was.
