Replicas of Columbus

"Replicas of the famous ships Christopher Columbus used to travel, the Pinta and the Nina, will be open for public tours Sept. 10–20 at 301 Riverboat Row in Newport."

We went down to Smale Park to see LST 325 LST Memorial 325 today. What a piece of living history. (She leaves tomorrow),

We got a bonus. Besides the great Smale Park and the carousal, we saw that replicas of the Nina and the Pinta are docked right below Hooters on Riverboat Row. These two ships are tiny. It is truly amazing that Columbus was able to cross the ocean

They are here until Sunday,

Go downtown and treat yourself to another peek of history. (Oh, if you haven't been to Smale Park, it is another MUST SEE!!!

I went to Newport today to get a look at the Nina and Pinta. As Mike said, those ships are tiny. The Pinta was only 56 feet long and 17.6 feet wide.

The Nina is exact size. The Pinta replica was made wider and longer to carry crew on their tours.
