I'm trying to accumulate a list from local residents of different cities of their top 5 favorite high rises. I'd love for you to list them. Please include at least the address or name and a photo if available (unless someone has already posted by the time you put your vote in)

Thanks

The Belvedere, which was Cincinnati's first high-rise apartment building by some decades having been built in the late 1920's. The front entrance is at 3900 Rose Hill Ave but some of the addresses are given as 3901 Reading Rd. Although "only" 14 stories tall (I think) it's perched near the peak of Hamilton County's second-highest elevation. (Look up "belvedere" in your Italian dictionary!) The north-facing views from the upper floors are outta this world - definitely outta the county!

There was a high-rise building boom in the 1960's but there wasn't much "personality" in any of the towers. Among them I like the Edgecliffe in Walnut Hills for its bold blue facade and for the way it looks like it'd tumble down the hill after the slightest mudslide. For its location apart from any other structures of its ilk I also appreciate the Queen's Tower in Price Hill (between Glenway Ave and West 8th St, fronting on Matson Place.) By the same token I also like Hammond North - money ran out before ground could be broken for Hammond South - and Highland Towers in Mt Adams (1071 Celestial St, how cool a street name is that!)

Williamsburg of Cincinnati did have a good reputation attached to it during its first decade or two. Developed from a dairy farm in the late '60s, it was an appealing community in itself with townhouses and some brick apartment buildings laid out alongside streets with vaguely "Colonial" names - though it's anybody's guess what "Sugarball Lane" derived from. It was gated before anybody knew the meaning of the word. But there was never anything on the property that could be considered a high-rise. The only "high rise" in recent times has been the crime rate since management allowed Section 8 vouchers.
