I have a job offer at the VA hospital (Vine St) and moving from Nevada.
My specs:
Looking for a decent neighborhood with shopping, theaters etc.
Have small dogs need small yard (no condos/townhomes)
Commute no more than 30 min. 15 mi. radius
Budget 300-400k
Looking more at suburbs feel (but love MLB games
Schools not important - just me and the Mrs. both 55+ but ACTIVE.

Admit very unfamiliar with the area but learning fast. Lived in Minneapolis for a few years so accustomed to Midwest metro culture.

Thanks,

Hoody

Clifton abuts the VA hospital and is a well-preserved late 1800's neighborhood with active gas lights on most streets. Cincinnati has the more operational gas street lights than any city in the world other than London, and Clifton has a larger concentration of these lights than any other Cincinnati neighborhood.

The neighborhood's business district has an active art movie theater, over a dozen restaurants, and just reopened its grocery store. The strip is always lively. The homes within walking range of the strip and the VA hospital range in price from about $250-600k. The neighborhood association has kept fast food, street widenings, and other blights out of the area for 50 years.

This video travels up the famous strip in the second minute and ends just 1/4 mile short of the VA hospital:

I've been looking, working in same area as you for different hospital. Clifton Gaslight seems nice and has a lot of what you're looking for but not very suburban. Wyoming is a more suburban neighborhood that is nice but has no theater and only a couple restaurants within walking distance but is really nice and there's a back way close to I-75 that will take you to the hospitals. I think you might like Mariemont too. Very suburban/safe feel with a theater in the downtown and lots of shops/restaurants.

For my needs I want to be closer to work than you so I've been looking at Clifton Gaslight.

What areas in Minneapolis do you like/would like to live in here if there was an equivalent? I have family there so know the areas a bit.
