Hello all. I am a recent college grad (grad about 3 months ago) and am looking to find an apartment potentially in/ around the city. I have lived around the Sharonville area my whole life (minus the years at college) and while I think it's ok, I would like to live somewhere different.

The main things I'm looking for (in regards to cities/neighborhoods) go as follows: a logical/ polite community(moderately liberal but not too left); relatively cheap cost of living (aiming to move to a place where rent is between 800-900); Not too many rowdy UC students, if any (I lived betwen two frat houses at college and have had my fill of loud, belligerent neighbors haha).

If anybody could recommend any cities or neighborhoods that offer (or are close to offering) what Im looking for, it would be much appreciated. Cheers!

Welcome Steely.

I think it would improve the responses, if you would tell us if you are employed and what part of town.

Very new to this forum, so thanks for the advice. I am currently employed (part time but am looking for a full time at the moment) and I am currently located in the city of Sharonville, Ohio. Like I said before, I have been away from the Cincinnati area for the past 4 years and have not been able to keep up with which cities/ neighborhoods have improved. Also, long commutes don't bother me because I have had jobs that are more than an hour away before. Hopefully this is enough to help improve responses

I don't know how you define "polite."

Anywhere in town can be "polite" or mean as Hell depending on your neighbors.

As for liberal, who knows? I guess around UC.

Sounds like your wishes are undefined, which (IMHO) comes from a millennial receiving a liberal education with no job prospects in your future. But, as anyone here can tell you, that's the way I think.

I'm mystified by the "polite" requirement too. $800 - $900 doesn't usually go very far for rent unless you're willing to live in an area that's borderline in terms of safety and quality of life.

Perhaps check out the part of Norwood close to Xavier(?) Looks like that area has been fixed up in recent years, it may also meet your vaguely defined "liberal" requirement.

Maybe you can find a decent but inexpensive place in the MainStrasse area of Covington. My subjective impression is that's kind of the hip area in NKY these days.

Otherwise, $800 - $900 might get you a bargain in someplace like Deer Park or Fairfield, but I'm not sure if it falls in your moderately-liberal-but-not-too-left stipulation.

Maybe loosening up on the liberal requirement would give you more options. If you're single with no kids, you can pretty much go to whatever part of town to be around like minded people when you're not working.

Sorry dude but this crossed the line, I reported it.
There's nothing lower than personally attacking a new member for asking a question.

I mean, I could say that you probably are unemployed and believe Cheetos and Mtn Dew are health food, but I'm not a jerk like you just showed yourself to be. I won't accuse you of that, regardless of whether or not it is true.

So take that for what it's worth. Personal attacks suck. I sincerely hope you don't go around thinking that you're better than your own grandkids that are millennials and probably show you all the love in the world. I hope you get a suspension and learn a lesson.

I'd disagree. You can get a solid 1br apartment almost anywhere in the area for 800-900/mo, which from what I can tell is all the OP wants.

Sure, you won't be getting a new Sodosopa style apartment at the Banks or OTR for that price range, but there's a lot of good places to be found.

----

OP, it sounds like you're looking for a place that has community with respectful people that aren't off the wacko spectrum in basic values. Fair enough to ask.

I'd recommend East Walnut Hills first and foremost, just because it fits the price range well and I've known a number of people your age and mine that are very happy in the neighborhood.

Besides EWH, I'd check out apartments in Oakley/Hyde Park that aren't in complexes, Clifton Gaslight & Northside, Mt. Adams, and maybe even Pleasant Ridge.

Beyond Cincy city limits, consider downtown Hamilton (Google CORE Hamilton for a start), Covington/Newport in the basin, and generic apartment complexes in Blue Ash/Montgomery and Mason.

Also Miamisburg around Austin Blvd has a number of decent apartment complexes with a lot of young professionals.

This place might be worth a look:

Good luck!

You can afford tons of places at $800-$900 for a 1 bedroom. A small 1 bedroom (700 square feet) in Hyde Park will run about $800. But SWOH hit the nail on the head. Check out Oakley, Hyde Park, Clifton-Gaslight, Northside, Pleasant Ridge and East Walnut Hills. All of those are great places within in the city. This is a city that voted 100,800 to 29,000 for Hillary. So finding a liberal part of the city is not hard. Trump only won a few precincts and most of them are in the far west side of the city.
