We're looking at moving to the area in June and need to find a house to rent somewhere between Mason and northern Cincinnati. We're 30-somethings with a 4 yr old who will be attending one of the Montessori schools near Mason. We've been living near downtown Charlottesville, VA for several years and love it - progressive, intelligent, historical, great food, wine, music...a little pretentious but also has good grounded/earthy population and lots happening (and we're moving why?
) Maybe we should look closer to Cincinnati? Thanks for any input!

Mason's average family income is a little more than two times that of Charlottesville according to City Data so the upscale and pretentious part shouldn't be an issue, but as to progressive, I think you will have to take a reduction in that department.

Northern Cincy
We actually would like to live somewhere in between Mason and Northern Cincy. I get the feeling that we'd fit in closer to the city but we don't want to be too far from the south Mason area. Any suggestions? Montgomery?

That's a really tough call, because Mason is pretty far out in the 'burbs.

Mason is a nice area and very safe, away from city crime.
