I never saw a thread on this, but this is something I wonder about sometimes. Lower Manhattan has Wall Street, but Midtown is larger and has many big name corporations too. What is your take? Be civil...oh wait, nvm...its all NYC.

The one with Wall Street is far more important. The idea that those global companies you're talking about an average non-New Yorker won't know the name of those off the top of their heads, but Wall Street has the notoriety in which people from whatever corner of the world will recognize what it is.
Yes, but its not the only financial district in Manhattan. Midtown is home to NASDAQ, Citigroup and was home to the now defunct investment banks like Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns. Midtown, I heard, is also home to many of the largest hedge funds in the world.

Yes, Wall Street rules but it does not only refer to Lower Manhattan...but also sometimes refers to NY's financial community. In the economic collapse, investment banks like Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns were huge players in the global economy, they were headquarterd in Midtown. They were referred to as Wall Street banks, even though they were HQ'd in Midtown.
The ISDA (International Swaps and Derivatives Association) is also HQ'd in Midtown.
