03. Los Angeles: 15,440,000

10. San Francisco Bay Area: 6,100,000

11. Miami/Fort Lauderdale: 5,955,000

The 2019 Demographia Urban Areas are out. Can't link it, it is a competitor site but search "Demographia Urban Area 2019" in Google, it'll be the first link.

Washington and Baltimore are now finally combined on this metric.

Thank you for posting this. I'm shocked to see NYC edging out Mexico City. I would have assumed Mexico City would be the top dog with a few million margin over NYC.

I figured Philadelphia would be somewhere between 6-6.5 million by now. I seems like they are using CSA stats for some areas, but not for others. For instance, Boston's urban area at 7.1 million, no... CSA, yes.

The Delaware Valley was over 7.2 in 2010, but doesn't even make the top 11?

I'll need to read that link later, I don't have the time right now. Right out the gate though this list looks suspect.

That's a pretty steep decline for Chicagoland. Where are they getting these numbers if the county population estimates aren't out yet?

Steep decline for Chicagoland? If anything, it's stagnant to slight decline for Chicagoland.

The Washington-Baltimore CSA is much closer to Chicago's than this chart indicates and will, most likely, surpass Chicago in the 2020 Census.

Steep decline from what? These are urban areas. Chicago is 700,000 lower than it's official CSA, but for instance Washington/Baltimore is millions below their CSA. Dallas and San Fran are over a million below too.

Different metrics.

Yeah, these figures look either old, although it says 2019, or are not official CSA populations.

The title clearly stated URBAN AREAS why does everyone keep bringing up CSA.

IndieIndy Philly was previously 11 followed by ATL and DC but the combination of DC and Bmore pushed Philly to 12.

Interesting that the top 3 lost UA population from previous reports.
Miami, SF and Boston are lower also.
