It will not make it in 1000 years, unless the south becomes the confederacy.

You have key things there, that aren't found in ATL-Charlotte.

$$$ Wall Street/Banks/UN NYC, Ivy league University, Media dominance, $ dominance, International Politics dominance. Former US Capital
Power - DC National Capital, FBI, CIA, Pentagon, Congress, White House,
Education/Medical - Boston far ahead, Ivy League University
History - Philadelphia high contribution, former US capital, Ivy League University
Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Columbia, Harvard, MIT, NYU, Georgetown, Swarthmore, Amhurst, Wellesley, Dartmouth, Brown, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, Boston U, Boston College, Brandeis, Lehigh, Rutgers, Yeshiva
Think of all that talent...
HSR already in place

plus uhh quite a few people, but more important, is the institutions... you could have double the number of people and it still wouldn't be as important, in fact you could take the entire south right now of over 100million people compared to BosWash 55mil , and it still isn't as important.

I think Char-Lanta would first have to reach the level of NYC metro alone. I doubt that will happen in 10 years. Anyway, Bos-Wash is likely to remain the dominant region in the U.S. far into the future.

For the record, nobody down here uses the stupid term Char-Lanta. That sounds like a discription of Atlanta after Gen. Sherman got through with it, or the brand name of a gas grill. It's officially the I-85 Mega Corridor and it runs all the way from Montogermy AL to VIRGINIA. You might get more respectful discussions if you referred to it by the proper name.

Yes, we shall all use I-85 mega corridor from now on ...

Actually the only thing I've ever heard that is legit is the Piedmont...

Charlanta? Well, I don't know about this BosWash place, but I know Charlanta competes well with the widely known and not at all made up regions called San Houstonio, Los Frandiego, Chiwaukeeapolis, and Clevetroitcinnati.

Yes, but you're forgetting about the up and coming western megaregions like Portseavanoise, Saltverquerque, and Kansamohamoines... And that's not even including the fast growing Triple B-Montana Megaplex--Greater Billings-Bozeman-Butte--also known as the Billbozebutte Microregion...

Actually, Char-Lanta is the real name of the megaregion. It's ranked #3 of the top megaregions in the US.

No way. It's around 250 miles from Atlanta to Charlotte with what in between? Greensville, SC?

It's a growing region, but WAY too disconnected and far apart to be called one functional megaregion.
