It's not one that would immediately cross peoples' minds, but I found Columbia, SC to be a pretty good mix of both when I lived there. Want to walk? If you live downtown, no matter where you are you're probably no more than two miles from where you want to go. If you're reasonably in shape and work in downtown (like I was/did) you can seriously get by without a car for weeks at a time. That said, if you want to drive, it's usually not difficult to find a parking space anywhere. Even in Five Points or the Vista on a weekend night, street parking is pretty easy to come by.
