Says the troll who thinks he needs to "put SF in its place", and who is pathetically obsessed with trying to denigrate SF and its region of millions of residents, based solely on tired stereotypes and lies.

It seems more like you're the one who needs validation, as you're constantly trying to make SF look bad, and constantly trying to get others to agree with your stupid delusions.
Except I got a few rep points from the comment I just made, so its pretty obvious that a segment of the East Coast posters on this site agree with me.

And we're a very vocal segment So get used to it, we aren't going anywhere.

Anyways, if your cities are so great, why are you online all the time getting hurt over someone else's opinions? This isn't Middle School. Get used to it. Not everyone is going to like you.

This is the funniest thing I've read coming from you. Read it again, and just think about it.

Looking at all the West coast butt hurt whenever someone says something against it, I don't see the irony. It's just empirical fact.

Just let it go. Not everyone is going to like LA or SF. Otherwise, they'd have more people than they do now.

Sorry you don't see the irony.

I don't have anything to let go. I don't give a rats ass if you or anyone likes LA or SF. I just find it quite comical that you're telling people to do exactly what you can't seem to do yourself.

Carry on.....

I've given up responding to whatever whats-his-name's latest screen name is as I don't like arguing with people with the mental age of 12. I'll admit the Hugh Foodie persona has gone on a lot longer without getting banned than the other aliases. If they're not the same poster, they sure as hell have the exact same schtick.

In case you haven't noticed, there has been a litany of East Coast posters who've agreed with me. Very seldom do they not. I think my views are pretty common amongst many along the Eastern seaboard..hell, even the rest of the United States.

There's a reason why California is the most hated state in the US. If City vs City and the rest of City Data is an indicator, it's pretty clear why. People from the Midwest, Northeast, and South have made their views known very vocally on this site.

As an SF resident, I also love NY and Chicago. SF is my favorite of the three, mainly because I like spending a lot of time in nature and the Bay Area is perfect for that. As far as I know, people in SF generally have a very favorable opinion of both NY and Chicago.

I agree with the OP in that these are the three best cities in the US. Although, there are also other places I could see myself living in such as LA, Boston, Philly, Denver, Pittsburgh, Austin, or Minneapolis.

Very good summation for this thread.....

Not sure why anyone should have to choose between the three cities, except as a place to live. Each is great, and offers its own special benefits; I visit all three frequently, and love each for different reasons. Echoing fierymustache, I have friends in each city, and I have very rarely heard any statement denigrating one of the others, except for an occasional bad experience in a hotel or restaurant, or with a panhandler, or something of that nature.

NYC is clearly on a higher level when it comes to sheer size. But all of this chitchat that purports to suggest which city is more diverse, more sophisticated, etc. misses the point. Each region offers an experience that is exciting and constantly stimulating. Which you prefer based on its unique offerings is the point.

Do people in these cities like the others? Yeah, absolutely. I've never met anyone in any of these cities that didn't enjoy visiting the others. As for speculation about them from people who've never actually been to them... well, who gives a flying **** about that? I'm not interested in stereotypes from people who've never personally experienced a place or a thing. I understand that some who have visited another city may not, for various reasons, find it to their taste - their opinions, at least, are founded on their experiences. But I'd imagine that most at least respect the city, and don't feel the need to put it down in pursuit of ego gratification or to advance their political opinions.

I'm from NY state. Not NYC, but have been there hundreds of times. I have also lived in LA, so I understand SOcal mentality and the like. I have also visited Chicago several times. Definately enough times to garnish an opinion. Having said all that, I have never been to San Francisco. Even when I lived in LA, I just never ventured out there. I wanted to, just never got around to doing so. I will give you my take on San Francisco.

I think it looks great. It is a beautiful city. That would be hard for anyone to argue. Keep in mind. I've never actually been there, so this is just speculation.

I think for a city of 800,000 it is awesome. I kind of like the fact that it gets colder than SoCal. Being fromt the east, I don't mind cold. Although LA's weather was perfect (no humidity).

I think San Francisco is a premiere city. I don't understand those who dispute that. You have to consider the metro and even CSA as well. So it has much more than 800,000 people.

I don't think I would like all the constant toursists.

As much as I love cities on hills (I've lived in Pittsburgh), at least the way they look. I hate walking them, so that might be a negative for me. I like to walk all over the place. Then again, I'm sure I could take the trolley up the hills and walk down them. Pittsburgh was brutal with all the hills. There's good and bad. Cities engrained in hills look nice, but can be tiring as he ll to walk.

I hear that the food culture in San Fran is top notch. That would be a plus, since I am a foodie.

I don't like the cost of living. Probably the reason that the population stays the same in the city itself is because A) there's no more room to build and B)The cost of living is so high.

Other than that I think San Fran is a hel l of a city and I am always pissed off that I didn't do that 8 hour trek from LA when I lived there. I don't care about political beliefs of a city. And having tons of hippies doesn't discourage me one bit! I have lived in Ithaca, NY before, and that city is like a miniature version of San Francisco, or so I was told from my friend who was going to Cornell who was from SF.

When I think of San Francisco the first thing that comes to mind is the natural beauty. I think of the movie, "Basic Instinct" with Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas. That movie showed that city well. I think of all the Dirty Harry movies. I think of the "porn theatres" that San Fran used to be littered with. Not sure if their still there. To me San Fran is a "seductive" city. By the way it looks and from it's history. It just oozes "seduction" if that makes sense. Oh, plus the band Journey is from there, and I love that song they made about the city by the bay...

These are the opinion of just one NY'er. Not a NYC New Yorker, but a NY'er nonetheless. There's more to NY than just NYC.

The avg white person in Ithaca has more in common with the avg white person in SF, then the avg white NY(C)er
