You're very right! all folks in DC own a gun and pull out their guns on strangers daily. I guess some people like to live dangerous, which no matter where you go in DC, including the White House, someone will pull a gun on you

Dallas might like their guns, but they dont use them
Pull up some crime stats
According to city-data.com:
Dallas - 695.0
DC - 670.3
People think DC is some war zone. This isn't the early 90s. DC has changed and is a very nice city. The violent crime is so secluded to certain areas. I'm not sure why most people would be in those areas anyway. I'm sure Dallas is like this too, but you've got to be kidding me. Picking Dallas because you think that you are going to be shot if you are in DC? That is ridiculous.
DC also has more police officers per capita than any other city in the country. I have walked around some of the "bad" areas in DC and I think that people exaggerate way too much.
Baltimore is a completely different city than DC. Something like that is random anyway. It could happen anywhere.
