Yes, that's true and Maine did as well. Both California and Washington rejected GMO labeling. Mmh.

I guess what I meant is that The West Coast starts the conversation. California is such a big and important state that if they would have legalized weed, passed gay marriage and GMO labeling it would've swept across the country. Instead it just brought the conversations to the center stage, allowing smaller states to take set precedent.

It is more of a regressive mentality not to get things done. You kind of wonder why the WC is going through major budget constraints due to its dysfunctional socialist programs: amnesty for illegal aliens, free drugs for homeless, high taxes, lucrative state retirements, medicare, utility expenses, welfare, etc.

There is a saying, "You turn the WC upside down & everything falls apart."

I agree 100%,

The WC is very "SUPERFICIALLY ARROGANT" about themselves.

WC is full of fake *******s & EC is full of real *******s.
Socialist programs?

We simply have far more here on this side of the country. Much more diversity, beautiful and scenic New England, charming and attractive deep south, world class and historic cities like NYC, Boston, Miami, DC, New Orleans, Nashville, St. Augustine, Gettysburg, Charleston.... We also get far more tourists too. When people think of America, the only place on the West Coast that comes to people's minds is Hollywood, and maybe San Francisco. Everything else is on the East Coast. Not to mention we have superior weather too. And flying on the East Coast is faster than the West Coast. Flying from Florida to New York only takes a couple hours.

The West Coast is very beautiful, but it has nothing on the East Coast.
I don't even know why I'm responding to this, but here it goes. First off, you claim that people don't think about the West Coast besides Hollywood(ridiculous statement) yet mention cities like Nashville and St. Augustine. Second, San Diego is NOTHING like a mini LA. For the most part, they are very different cities. Parts of Orange County might be similar to San Diego, but not so much LA. That's like saying that Philly is a smaller version of NYC.

Also, the fact that you think people only think of "Hollywood" when they think of the West Coast is ridiculous. Do you know what the second most recognizable structure in the WORLD? The Golden Gate Bridge. A survey showed that more foreigners recognized it than the Stature of Liberty, and of course, the Hollywood sign. Only the Eiffel Tower scored higher.

I'm from the east coast (Philly) and would swap out for west coast culture in a heart beat.

What's so great about the east coast culture really? I mean, it's not nearly as progressive and open as the west coast and has everything to do with money, power, wealth, and of course being "tough".... lol, aka being shrewd or ghetto or some type of "get outta my way" mentality.

The west coast does have a counter-culture element to it, more nature lovers too...just more chilled out individuals, etc. It's more open and just seems more humane. Not as cut-throat. Like as if anyone really wants to live in Jersey? Most ppl are born there and are forced to live there .... Same goes for philly and baltimore...kind of bleak cities.

DC and NYC are cool, but let's be real...they all look the same. West coast cities are naturally a lot more striking and beautiful. People want to preserve that.

YES,

CA provides this so-called "SOCIALIST UPTOPIA" to mirror Europe. This is the main reason why CA's bankrupt due to its wasteful state services: lucrative retirement pension (90% salaries paid full during 20-30 yrs time into the State), welfare assistance (alcoholics, druggies, homeless, illegals), free education (100% tuition paid by CA taxpayers for illegals to attend any junior colleges or public universities), etc.

Again,

"YOU TURN CA UPSIDE DOWN & EVERYTHING FALLS APART!"

It's funny,

When I see CA visitors in NYC. I asked them about how is CA's State budget to be balanced or not. The Cali folks never respond my answer, or they reply about how Wall Street bankrupt America. LOL! What a cheesy come back answer. Go figure, how Cali folks can't give you a straight answer about their economic crisis. Glad I left the land of flakes & flakes!

What kind of weirdo asks out of state tourists about their states budget deficit? Lol. That's probably the main reason people don't respond.

Spare me your mockery of justice!

Progressive?

What do you mean?

Yes, the WC is progressive as far as "SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY" to be very innovative. I'll you give 100% credit on it, but as far as "GOVT & MGMT" is concerned to be very flawed. CA is broke due to its wasteful welfare services. To even think CA tries to claim as its own sovereign state. LMAO! FYI, this is not Capitol Hill's (DC) or Wall Street's (NYC) fault to cause CA's bankruptcy. It is the public sector of CA's economy to ripple down to its taxpayers. You kind of wonder why many businesses leave CA due to its so-called, "SOCIALIST UTOPIA."

Sorry, but I STRONGLY DISAGREE on your statement for the WC not as CUT-THROAT like the EC to be flawed again. The WC will smile at you, but they will stab you behind your back in a very sneaky way. They act very passive aggressive at you w/o speaking their mind to be shallow. However, in the EC, they will say it to your face & stab in front of you. At least, I know where I stand & I just move ahead in order to find better opportunities.

Individualism?

Again, I STRONGLY DISAGREE how the WC represents INDIVIDUALISM to be flawed. The WC tends to act individual, but they are ACTUALLY CONFORMISTS to appease society. Sorry, but the WC pretends to be individualists as a sense of superficiality in order to stay with the click.

The EC represents the REAL INDIVIDUALISM to meet other individuals. How a person is able to make it on his/her own success. The examples are career driven, move up the ladder, network, socialize in order to go out there & engage with people. A person, who has a sense of depth character & well round knowledge in the globe.

The EC cities are very bleak? Where is your sense of US history? You don't know it is called the "AMERICAN EASTERN ESTABLISHMENT?" Right? I like its historical architecture of grit & grunge. It brings a lot of its evolving character. How it was built.

I assume you might be a black person, who grew up in the rough parts of Philly. Yeah I attended college at Temple U in business marketing & finance. How sad the Philly politicians really ruined this once great historical iconic city. It was one time a progressive city to live & work during its hay days. I still have a heart in the City of Brotherly Love. Yes, Philly still has a lot of potential to revive itself to become a cool city once again. When? It is only a matter of time. Once these crappy Philly politicians are out of City Hall.

PS

No offense, but if you're black from Philly & watch basketball. You know why Philly fans HONESTLY BOOED Kobe during the 2002 NBA All-Star Game? When he received the All-Star MVP b/c he didn't hook up his HS coaches & teammates to attend the game. They were the ones to assist him on his way into the NBA. I give a lot of props to Philly & the EC cities (BOS, NYC, BAL, & DC), b/c a person never forgets where he/she came from to get there aka success.
