SF > LA

I won't say anything about Houston to be nice.

I'll be honest I don't really understand the the whole rankings of ports. It seems like 'the busiest port' really depends on what you are measuring. For instance, LA is #1 when measuring container shipping. But Houston seems to do the most foreign shipping. It's all very confusing. I have heard that the expansion of the Panama Canal will help out Houston and may hurt LA/LB. Ironic as the Canal's construction is what put the Port of LA on the map.

Also I don't think San Francisco really has much of a port. Oakland is the big port for the Bay.

Are you mistaking New Orleans for Houston or something because I'm not seeing that with this map at all?

Ports are the most boring and irrelevant topic about cities on this board.

It doesn't take a genius to look at that map & see California's seaports pale in comparison to Texas'.

The Port of Houston has a precision network of ship routes serving Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Gulf Coast, East Coast, Europe, & Asia.

California's ports serve Mexico, Asia, Canada, & Alaska. *yawn*

Not at all, they're actually important for economies and the creation of jobs.

Are you blind or do you not know where Houston is on a map, or both? The line thickness coming out of the port of Houston is not any thicker than the one coming out of the Bay Area or LA.

Dude, this map proves the Port of Houston blows anything in California away. Just give it up already.

Just because you have such a long coastline does not make you important when it comes to shipping goods by sea.

Learn to take defeat more gracefully.

Not at all. The port of Houston does not compare to the two-headed juggernaut that is port of LA and port of LB.
