In honor of a current thread on CD citing a Forbes article that ranked both of these cities as two of the most under the radar boom towns. I figured why not do an updated comparison between the two cities. I feel like these two cities aren't discussed much on here but they both seem to have something to offer.
Some criteria to consider
1. Downtown
2. Walkability
3. Architecture
4. Outdoor Recreation
5. Bars/Restaurants
6. Transportation Car and Public
7. Scenery
8. Climate
9. Location
10. Economy
11. Suburbs
12. Where would you rather live?
Really not close at all. Louisville is a cool small town, no shame in that. But Milwaukee is another 2-3 tiers above Louisville in terms of just about everything.
No clue why Milwaukee is running away with this. This forum can be weird with polls. Louisville is well known as an up and coming city. It has great character a booming economy and a quickly developing downtown. Milwaukee has a nice water front but it's largely a "has been" city that will forever be in Chicago's shadow.
Both the last 2 posts....the first one bashing Louisville...then the next bashing Milwaukee are rather absurd responses.
Both fine cities...Id still go with Milwaukee but keep an eye on Louisville...it could pop like Nashville...visit often...there is a definite buzz happening.
But I guess it really comes down to if you are more of a Horse-riding bourbon drinker or a Harley-riding beer drinker.
Been to both. Would choose Louisville. I'm not a horse person or beer drinker (lol), but just liked Louisville's feel better. Hard to put a finger on it. In my rankings, Louisville doesn't rank top 20 in any category, BUT they don't rank poorly in anything (most metro usually have an achilles heel). Good balance. Milwaukee does well in some areas, ok in others, and their climate hurts them. Louisville's economy, climate, COL, and Buying Power push them over the top for me. Size can sometimes matter, but it totally depends on the areas. For instance, I'd rather live in Chicago or Philadelphia than Tucson or Providence. But I'd also rather live in Asheville or Omaha than NYC or San Francisco. I just depends on the area.
NYC>Philly>Chicgao>Providence> San Francisco>Louisville>Tuscon>Milwaukee (haven't been to Lville Tuscon or Milwaukee, this is just based off what ive read and seen)
