Non-coastal cities just don't have the location nor pizzaz to make America more competitive worldwide. Denver jobs might help Denver but it can't provide the same international push that NYC or SF can.
Yeah, amazing but true. GDP Growth(in '12 it was like +7% which is almost China-like) and Job Growth went bonkers between 2011 and 2012 in the SF MSA, primarily the SF Metro Division which is how this is ranked, and I am extremely interested in seeing 2013 as things actually accelerated.
And what does housing cost really have to do with a ranking about 'driving the future'? That's the only reason SF is not number 1.

This would be true if boats were still the primary means of transportation, but now there are airplanes that can go pretty much anywhere for B2B travel.
