This is more of a proposal/concept comparison than a concrete comparison.
Essentially, DUMBO and Canalside share geographic traits. Both are districts located under bridges, have ample access to rail (Amtrak, Metro Rail rapid transport, MTA), water, and highway transportation. Both are supposed to be dense urban neighborhoods.
At the moment, many Buffalonians want to see the Skyway Bridge, carrying NYS Route 5, demolished entirely. Declining traffic counts, maintence costs and population drainage are partly to blame. With improvements on the way next year, this may not happen for a long time. Replacement is an option.
Obviously, DUMBO is a well established, affluent neighborhood right across from the biggest downtown in the Western Hemisphere. And to those who have never seen or heard of Canalside, it is slated to become something similar to Baltimore's Inner Harbor or something similar.
So as a comparison, with renderings to help, how would they Stack up against each other?
