I've been living in Bend now for about 3 years and feel like I have a pretty good sense of what the winters are like.

For example, you may have a few days where it's tricky to travel b/c of an abundance of snow and ice but for the most part, it's not a problem traveling about Bend (w/ decent snow tires).

It get's cold, and I think it was last year we had some really cold days in the single digits but that was definitely not the norm.

In the three years I think 1 year I brought out the show shovel once, another year I think i managed not to use it at all, and then last year we got dumped on so there was a week or so where I used it daily. But otherwise, using a snowblower or snow shovel is not something i expect to need to do or use more than a few days in Bend.

So I'm trying to get a sense of how CDA would compare during the winter? Does it get a little colder, a lot colder? Is the snow/ice situation about the same?

In other words, if you can handle winters in Bend, would CDA overall be about the same? Or a little colder and snowier?

Really appreciate any input you have!

Lance

IMO the last 3 winters have been rather mild in Bend. I think one of my friends may know how CO compare so CDA. I'll check.

Not sure where they get the data but certainly not the most reliable sources.

I think it was Bend Local? posted the site and I like, because it is a weather site not a one stop cover everything site. Of course Coer-Dalene can be entered to compare.

In my three years of crazy obsessive observations of the weather in Bend the one thing I have observed is the sources and data vary. Often (like weather sparks) is clear to point out specific recorded observations right in Bend are not very reliable. Bend's weather, snow, rain amounts and sky conditions can be quite different from even Sunriver or Redmond.

All I got from it weather wise is that CDA is colder and some people don't like dealing with the snow. And this seems to be a common thing I'll read about, whether Bend or CDA. The trick is that all these conversations are one sided.

If the same person said "i hate shoveling all the snow in CDA but it's about the same as what I dealt with in Bend" then that would give a better sense of being able to compare the two.

And there may be a shortage of people who've actually spent enough time in both to give a decent comparison but that's what I'm shooting for
