I'm more interested in how the OP came up with that random list of places to poll.
In assessing a city's dating scene, I'd take into account (in order):
1) Diversity (it's hard saying what any one person is into; diversity gives something for everyone)
2) High number of single people (this might correlate with a high number of educational institutions)
3) Fun things to do on dates (let's face it, dinner at PF Chang's and a movie gets old)
4) Moderate cost of living (so average people can actually afford to go out on nice dates)
That said, I'd give the title to Chicago. Lots of colleges. Lots of fun bar/entertainment districts. Great theater and sports. Great beaches. People from all social classes, walks of life, and corners of the world. It's cheaper than the big coastal cities, so more affordable for younger singles.
Given my criteria, second place, I think would probably be Atlanta and third would be Dallas. But, for some reason, all three of these cities (Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas aren't exactly ho-dunk towns) were left off the poll (the OP did, however, include Fort Worth).

Why?
I always go by what city has the least amount of bots on Grindr.

Yeah I say Chicago too. However I believe you can be happy with the dating scene in a lot of cities.
Definitely Austin. So many single sexy women in that area.
