Now that it has been decided that LA had it better than anyone else in round 1, and that, thanks to San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles completes the top-5 Chinatowns in North America. The following Chinatowns are, in any order, on a tier of their own:

San Francisco
New York City
Vancouver
Toronto
Los Angeles

The residual question is: which city is at #6?

Chicago
Montreal
Seattle
Houston
Philadelphia
Boston
Oakland

Close between Chicago and Oakland imo but I'd go with Chicago. Has a Chinese population of about 15,000 in the area around the original Chinatown and now extending down into Bridgeport, so a larger population in a concentrated area than any of the other cities. Like I said, Oakland is pretty close tho and the whole inner East Side has an Asian plurality now, though with a lot of SE Asians mixed in.

As I said in the other thread, for me it's either Chicago or Boston. However I notice I haven't been to Oakland so if it really can stand against these others I'd better not vote. IMO though these two are more aesthetically pleasing, more authentic feeling, and more delicious than the rest. Houston comes close though, particularly because of how cheap food can be. The number of amazing meals that can be had for 5 bucks is mind-blowing.

Of these I've been to Oakland, Boston and Seattle (missed the Chinatown in Philly) and the best for shopping and variety of stores, restaurants and everyday services is in Oakland.

Seattle's Chinatown is small, but authentic, and has existed for over a century. It needs to be represented here.

As with round 1, it seems to be primarily framed in terms of cultural amenities and food more than aesthetics or quality of living...

Why is Seattle not getting enough love? No way Boston or Philadephia should be ranked higher. Seattle has a top 5 Chinatown in America.
