San Diego has 11.7 Technology patents per 1000 workers, 50% more the rate of San Fransciso (2nd place). That's not enough to earn it a Top 20 ranking? I can't take this seriously.

I agree. But that being said, I didn't even see Detroit listed in the first list anywhere. Am I missing something?
Thanks. I saw Ann Arbor (suburb of Detroit) and then Grand Rapids later on and guess stopped. Never imagined that they would be ranked higher than Detroit.
The metro designations are odd. Why is Santa Ana-Anaheim separated from Los Angeles? They are in the same labor market and geniuses in Orange County can easily collaborate with geniuses in Los Angeles County. This list goes in the dumpster for me.
