Boulder, CO as #1? I love that city, but it's sort of a random selection. I've been there a couple times and the mountain access was phenomenal, and downtown and campus are super nice.
But clearly this list is super subjective.

Using this criteria they came up with that mish mash list? More fodder.
well, they used US News' ranking as their basis for QOL---"Focusing on the cream of the crop, the top 75 out of 150 from the U.S. News list"--NY, Chicago etc are not in USNWRs top 75 so that explains that.
I guess they are actually weighing QOL and factor in art and design within those top 75.

Seems like every Tom, Dick, Harry, and Mary wants to get in on the "Best Cities/Metros" to Live In endless hype...I would say the Best is the one each of us is individually living in - if we're happy.
Why would anyone use those criteria for where to live? How about the crappy weather most of those places have? Why live anywhere with excessive heat and humidity or cold and snow? I tried living in Chicago and Naples, FL. I've been in Las Vegas for five years now, it's great for me. Don't comment on the summer heat if you haven't been here, it's so dry the heat feels good. Long humid summers in Florida about killed me. FWIW, I've been to many of the cities on that list and wouldn't live in more than a few of them. Nice places to visit maybe. I used to like San Francisco, but the homeless problem and crime are out of control now.
