If you could pick one to live 7-8 months a year in, from April - November, would you pick Los Angeles or New York City? Your budget is $10 million for buying a property and $500k/year in salary for living expenses.
NYC, the world is at your finger tips. Plus then you can fly to LA on your private plane once a month for a getaway. That's what rich people generally do anyway.
Like, you get zapped if you accidentally leave city boundaries? Can we still go to Santa Monica and such? Maybe go with the MSA?
You can go wherever you want, but that's what you have December - March for, that time is blocked out for travelling. The rest of the time you need to focus on your work etc so you don't have time for travelling around.
But yeah, lets suppose that you get zapped if you leave a 5 hour radius with your car. So if you're in LA, you can drive to Las Vegas. If you're in New York, you can drive to Boston or Atlantic City.

Actually I think this thread is much more interesting if you left it up to the MSA or CSA counties. Obviously NYC takes it once you include a 5 hour radius. If we're just talking staying within the metro area however, I could easily see how LA would take it, even in the summer months.
NYC the city surpasses LA on all levels. But outside of city limits I think LA's immediate surroundings are more appealing than say Northern NJ or SW Connecticut, or Mount Vernon etc.
Again this is with the inability to leave the CSA or MSA boundaries.
Then NYC no question. You have NYC itself (which is enough to win me over), you also have the mountains, the Hamptons, Fire Island, Boston, all of the Jersey Shore, Philadelphia, and even DE and MD beaches if you drive really fast.
LOL at the way this poll is set up to give New York a chance. Let me think long and hard about this...Los Angeles. LA mountains and beaches over a view of another building, a man made park, and grey rocky beaches.
