Not my area and I know most will consider this pricey, but Alpharetta, Georgia, 575k:

I like this house a lot.

^ A nice 3,000SF home on 1/3 acre at $204/sf is not bad at all.

Gotta love Manhattan...

The patio is pretty cool, feels unique to Georgia. That patio is larger than many NYC flats.

4 Bed 2.5 Bath 3524 SQFT about half an acre backing up to the lake/creek.

Because what he posted was a co-op, not a traditional condo unit. That is you pay $600K for the right to live there and be subject to the rules of the board, not to own it outright and do almost whatever you want. Co-ops have much higher HOA fees, but are cheaper than condos or houses.

And that was on purpose. I found 15 condo options in my zip-code (10016) under $600k (all tiny or in need of updates), HOA fees about $800-$1000 in non-co-op.

$600k could be enough to buy any house in my town, there are McMansion developments in cornfields in my area where new homes start at $375k but that will probably change as the housing market becomes more overvalued.

When my uncle died recently my 3 cousins sold the house for $875,000 last year and now Zillow estimated it at over $1million. The house is in Melrose MA, which is a very expensive area.

Here in the Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill/Carroll Gardens neighborhoods of Brookyn, $600k won't go too far.

A 1 bed, 1 bath condo is about it, for that price, unfortunately. LOL

In terms of a single family detached/attached home in Brooklyn though, here's what $600k gets you in this market:

A 3 bed, 1 bath in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. Not a terrible neighborhood, but not a really good one either.
