Its interesting and if you remove N America which are mostly Mexican a place like Philly has nearly the same amount as places like Houston or DFW, the Mexican immigration represents almost half their total immigrants

Thanks for posting

Thats not really accurate.

If you are going to remove the North American immigrants from Dallas and Houston, you have to do the same for Philly which amounts to 4,120 negative immigrants. 1,600 of those 4,120 came from one country: the Domincan Republic.

To the 2nd point, for Dallas and Chicago, yes Mexicans are overwhelmingly the immigrants that make up the North American category. Of the North American numbers, Mexicans make up 9,756 of Chicago's numbers and 9,576 of Dallas'. Of Houston's they only make 7,857. This despite the fact that Houston's North American numbers are the largest of the three. In terms of Latin Immigration and of the major immigration centers, only San Diego is less diverse than Chicago. Even Dallas is more diverse than Chicago from a Latin American immigrant perspective.

On the Overall, Asian, African, and European lists, Seattle is much smaller than every city (CSA) above it. (Correction...MSP is above us on the Africa list.)

I see Columbus is doing well for its size and location. Which table gives the breakdown for country to metro?Columbus only makes the top for Africa, so it must be drawing a small amount from many countries.

Below are how many immigrant groups moved into the MSA/CSA's listed above in numbers over 500. In my opinion this is the best measure of total diversity though it would have to be coupled with the original numbers and the total size of the metro area. The one caveat is Boston. I didnt include Providence and Worcester with it. If someone wants to do that and update it, go for it. Otherwise I think its numbers probably would be with DC, Dallas, and Houston:

NYC: 48
Los Angeles/Riverside: 31
San Francisco/San Jose: 21
Miami/Fort Lauderdale: 18
Houston: 17
Washington DC/Baltimore: 16
Dallas/Fort Worth: 15
Atlanta: 11
Seattle: 9
Boston: 9
Philadelphia: 9
Detroit: 7
Orlando: 7
San Diego: 6
Minneapolis/St Paul: 6
Phoenix: 5
Las Vegas: 5
Sacramento: 5
Austin: 4
Denver: 3
Portland: 3
Tampa: 2
Charlotte: 2
San Antonio: 1
Columbus: 0

China, Dominican Republic, Mexico seem to be where immigrants are coming from.
