Most people seem to think that California as a whole(including all the cities, all the other famous points) is more famous than New York(NYC, all other famous points) globally in a poll recently asked so just wanted to compare the individual cities this time in terms of popularity. NYC & LA/Hollywood are both recognized across the world, but which one do you think has the edge/more famous?

globally, LA/Hollywood due to the population growth in the Pacific Rim area.
LA/NY was sort of "even", but this millennium's demographics favor LA.

L.A. is world renowned by all means but NYC is the definitive American city when it comes to populaterity. It's the most visited, has by far the most economic/financial pull and arguably pulls just as much entertainment weight as L.A. does now a days

I don't think worldwide reputation is something that can be changed in just a decade or two though.

I travel extensively in Asia and New York is the city most associated with America there.
