I wonder if people would change up their recommendations on where to visit based on where a tourist is coming from. Perhaps it won't matter at all or would your recommendations change based on what specific country they are coming from?

Assuming they've never been to the US before and are living comfortably (not poor or uber wealthy), where would you recommend someone visit if they had a month in the US if they were from:

Which cities and which geographical destinations (national parks, amazing beaches, coasts etc.)

  • England
  • France
  • Italy
  • Korea
  • Japan
  • Thailand
  • India
  • UAE
  • Egypt
  • Ethiopia
  • S. Africa
  • Brazil
  • Argentina
  • Colombia
  • Mexico
  • Canada

This country is too vast and diverse, so to mention one place would be to do a disservice. I'll mention 10 key cities or places

New York
Los Angeles
Chicago
Miami
Las Vegas
Washington DC
New Orleans
Texas
Denver/Rockies
Mt. Rushmore or Yellowstone National Park

Are you trying to amaze them with something new, or give them something familiar? Active or sedate? Urban or natural or a mix?

For someone who has never been to the US, it's incredibly diverse, large and loaded with stunning geography.

I'd highlight these locations, for a 2 week trip duration or so:

Cities:
New York
Boston
DC
Chicago
Nashville
New Orleans
LA
San Francisco
Las Vegas
Seattle

Geography:
Yellowstone National Park
Grand Canyon National Park
Yosemite National Park
California Coastline, driving up the Pacific Coast Highway
Cape Cod Seashore
Oregon and Washington Coastlines
Hawaii
Alaska
Key West

There's just so much in this incredible country to see.

DC would probably make a nice two week location to experience the variety of the US. International flights are easy to find at Dulles/BWI. I'd recommend spending a few days in DC to see the monuments and museums to learn some general American history and culture. Then I'd recommend they rent a car and do a big loop around the DC area, spending a night or two along the way in different places. I'd recommend passing through Baltimore (to see a different type of US city) and then Gettysburg (for a small town and history). Then go down the Shenandoah Valley, seeing the natural sights and quaint towns. They can then loop back via Charlottesville or possibly Richmond if there's time. It's a lot to see, but they'd get a nice introduction to many aspects of America in a relatively small area.

If from England, France, Japan, Mexico, Norway, China, Canada, Morocco, Italy, or Germany, I’d recommend Walt Disney World.
