That’s probably because you admitted to having previously lived in the lesser desirable inland sewer area of Miami, not the nicer coastal/bayfront sections.
Seems like Miami/Miami Beach might be the apples to apples comparison to Boston/Cambridge—not Ft Lauderdale.

Yeah, i went back and forth on that. i chose Ft Lauderdale over Miami Beach because of similar size proportion with Miami as Cambridge is to Boston, and because i believe both will become important satellites in their own right/in the future.... and because many peoples' associations with Miami/Miami Beach being so close in the minds of many people--though Miami people would probably ban me for even insinuating such a preposterous thing.
But, Cambridge vs Ft Lauderdale: could 2 places be more different?
The distance between their respective big twins is unavoidable.
Yeah. Ft Lauderdale is 30 miles from Miami while Cambridge is ~400ft away from Boston (over the Anderson Bridge).
Miami Beach could work better. Or maybe Miami/Ft.Lauderdale vs Boston/Providence.
False!
The Harvard Bridge between Boston and Cambridge is 364.4 Smoots plus an ear.
