The 4 Ends of the United States: Boston, Miami, San Diego, or Seattle?
The comparison is of these cities and their focal metropolitan areas against the other three cities and their focal metropolitan areas. These are the 4 cities that are located in the 4 ends of the continental United States. So they are diametrically opposite of one another in different ends of the country (i.e Seattle-Miami or Boston-San Diego).

Boston> Miami > Seattle > San Deigo
I think Boston is firmly in first place and San Diego is firmly in last, based on factoring in all the criteria, but Miami and Seattle can go either way, depending on what you emphasize. Miami is larger, more cosmopolitan, more famous and livelier, but Seattle is far stronger in tech, has more F500 companies, more important companies and has more prestigious institutions of higher education.

- Location - Boston
- Climate - San Diego
- Nightlife - Miami
- Public transport - Boston
- Liveliness - Boston
- More built up urbanity - Boston
- Scenery - Seattle
- Food scene - ??
- Quality of life and standard of living - Miami
- Job market - Seattle
- Cultural Institutions and Performing Arts - Boston
- Airports - no preference
- Cosmopolitan feel / Diversity - Boston
Which one would you pick?
I guess that I pick Boston based on these criteria but it's actually next to last in real world terms or where I'd want to live. For that it'd be Seattle, San Diego, Boston, Miami
For me Boston and Miami belong at the top. Boston probably getting the edge for its location, cultural institutions/performing arts, and urbanity/public transit. Both present strong cases for cosmopolitan feel, but Miami would probably win on diversity, airports, liveliness, and possibly its food scene.
Seattle gets high marks for me from scenery, its job market, and the quality of life offered there, but Boston and Miami are higher up just through the sheer size, power, and influence they hold.
San Diego, while great, doesn't win in nearly enough categories and is last place in my opinion. I would say that their climate is the best of the 4 though. Boston gets those nor'easters that pummel the city with snow, and winters in general are quite cold there. Seattles rainy season might be a turnoff to some people, and Miami is more humid and prone to hurricanes.

I'd also argue that Seattle is more walkable, has more distinct neighborhoods, and has better food than Miami.
Given that each of these cities has a significantly different culture than the others, a lot of this polling will come down to preferences. Given that I'm in Miami and chose to be here, it's easy to guess which one I prefer.
has more prestigious institutions of higher education.
What are the prestigious institutions outside of U of W? I ask because I genuinely haven't heard of any famous institutions of higher knowledge in the Seattle area apart from the University of Washington.
It's between Seattle and Miami for me even though I hear a lot of negative stuff on Miami but still ( I speak a little Spanish and caught a cruise ship from there one time)
