We're a family of 4 finally able to get out of the Texas heat. We were set on Western WA, (Redmond/Sammamish/Issaquah) to be close to family, but now are considering being closer to other family near SE MI (Plymouth/Northville/Novi). We're moderate politically, but looking for a great community to be involved in that is kid centric, education-focused, has opportunity for outdoor play/adventures, we enjoy farmer's markets, some city amenities, and just a good old fashioned community to form roots.
I'd probably lean towards the Detroit burbs as they offer a similar quality of life for what I assume are lower housing costs.
