Off the top of my head: DC, Detroit, Baltimore, Newark, Camden, Gary, Compton, Richmond CA...I'm sure there are others but those stick out from back then. Unfortunately, other than DC, not much has changed.
Not true...I know that Richmond, Newark, and Compton have had large reductions in crime since the 90s as well.
Pretty much anywhere in Iowa at that time. I once saw a guy smack another guy in the face who owed him money. Plus, I heard about a fight there along time ago between to eighth grade girls. It got serious. One of them, lost a hair piece. That state is crazy. I wouldn't suggest driving through there. If you have to go. Keep the windows up. Keep your eyes to yourself and don't stop at any stop signs. Be very careful.
Also, there where 270 shooting incidents per every 100,000 population in 1993 South Bronx.
Or 27 shooting incidents per every 10,000 people.
It would be interesting to see how these numbers compare to other places.
BTW, the murder rate in 1993 was around 90 per 100,000 for the south Bronx.
Not saying that isn't a lot, but it isn't particularly "irregular" either. Where I used to live for example (East Oakland, which has around 90,000 residents) there were 5 shootings in an 18 hour period last Monday/Tuesday. That's not including the rest of the city. It's a sad reality that hearing gunshots is normal depending on where you live in America.
Little Rock, Arkansas was really bad in the 90's. I think the Rock had more murders then LA, Oakland, and NYC.
