While both are over priced, over crowded, over hyped, and generally a PITA to get around; I pick Maine because it is very slightly less pretentious than the Cape. There are lots of other places close to those two that offer better a better vacation experience. This comes from someone who lived in Maine for 20 years and has family that live down along the cape also.

This is spot on Bydand, in my opinion.

Personally, I really love York County, Maine. Portsmouth, NH is a convenient drive just across the river (and closer than Portland if you need a city).

Ogunquit for me, the Perkins Cove area along Marginal Way in particular.

Maine by far. Having lived on Cape Cod most of my life and looking to get out, you can't get there from here 5 months of the year. Everything is overpriced, overcrowded just plain over it. Great place to visit and vacation not live.

Of course the OP isn't a member anymore......

And he was a high school kid....

And... how can a poll ecompass a 70 mile long peninsula and compare it to a small town in Maine with fairness? Can't be done.

In all fairness it really can't be done, maybe if Cape Cod was 150 miles long it may be a bit more fair for them .

LOL Bydand.... well, my point was more that the poll is asking people to compare a small town in Maine with a peninsula that encompasses 15 unique towns. Seems ridiculous to me. No way to compare it accurately.
