We know that, of course...but I believe that Chinese falls into the category of 'Asian'.
Definitely, I think most people know the difference on the west coast though, it is a bit rude to lump them in with Chinese... And if you call them Chinese on the streets of LA, you might have a drive by in the next 20 minutes coming your way. From my experience there is a much better "awareness" of Asian population on west coast, w/ exception of NYC. Much more integrated and part of the culture.

Lump who in with the Chinese? I am referring to the Chinese in particular, not confusing non-Asians with them. Sheesh.
I think its because you West Coast people are directly east from where China is and that's why the East Coast doesn't have a big Asian population and all the Chinese are flying to LA, San Fran, and Vancouver
Isn't the East Coast closer (flight-wise) to Asian than the West Coast?
