It's interesting and probably intentional that International Falls is on the Canadian border and Yuma is on the Mexican border. Entirely different climates based on geography. This is really a difficult poll but I reluctantly went with Yuma because from late October to late April it is really nice; so for 6 months out of the year Yuma is a pleasant outdoor living small city. On the other hand, International Falls is only pleasant 5 months out of the year.

I was thinking about the same thing. I've camped out on the river outside Winterhaven Ca. [across the river from Yuma]. You can raft down the river and in spring the water is so warm and comfortable. But by late May it is getting too hot to enjoy outdoor activities until after sunset.

I'll take I Falls' 52, 67, 74, 79, 76, 65, 52 for April - October over Yuma's 90, 77, 69, 70, 75, 80, 87, for October - April...

Wait.. I DONT KNOW!.... What's worse? 95, 104, 107, 106, 101 May to September in Yuma, AZ? or... 33, 18, 14, 23, 35 November to March? Ahh I guess I can't decide! 107 sucks... but so does 14!...

International Falls smells like poo though. Seriously. There is some plant in town that makes the entire town smell like an aging armpit with BO sauce all over... I'm not even kidding. Google it, LOL.
Everyone has their own preferences. I was thinking along the lines of being completely comfortable outdoors in a t-shirt\ shorts\ flip flops so Yuma from November to April is between 70F - 87F and very low humidity. I am a wuss so temperatures below 60F are a bit uncomfortable to me unless I am fully exercising. I don't think I could handle International Falls temps of 14F to 52F from October to April. On the other hand, International Falls seems quite comfortable from May to September while Yuma is ungodly hot. Also another thing some people don't know about Yuma is that is can be horribly humid during summer when the monsoon starts [imagine 105F with 80% humidity ].

As a Minnesotan, I cannot fathom that!

OK, OK, OK people, it gets cold in Minnesota... IN THE COLD MONTHS!! So while Chicago, NYC, Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, Philly, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee are all COLD in the winter Nov-Feb, Minnesota is just a little colder. The difference in the summer is irrelevant or unnoticable.

Silly people.
Yeah, and it doesn't get humid here at all in Southeast Texas.

100F heat is even common in coastal California in September; a month that normally experiences the highest temperatures of the year. It may seem strange to you but many parts of the U.S. are still in summer in September and October brings the first hot "santa ana" winds [and fires] to Southern California. To me it sounds weird to be in the 50's in October. Different latitudes.
